2024 EXPECTATIONS & POLICIES 

Golf is a sport that you can enjoy for a lifetime.  By contrast the golf season is short and we must use our practice time efficiently.  The following policies will be in place for ALL golfers.  You will be responsible for understanding and adhering to these policies.

POLICIES

1) Rules:

Players are required to adhere to the Minnesota State High School League rules, as well as those implemented by Two Rivers High School.

2)  Scholastic Attendance:

A minimum of 4 out of 7 hours of class attendance must be met each day in order to practice or compete.  

3) Academic Policy:

If a player has an F in any class they have one week to raise their grade to passing. If their grade is not passing after one week they will have to sit out of matches until they are passing. 

4)  Athletic Attendance:

Punctual attendance is required at all practices and matches.  

Practice times during the season are from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Players should be ready to start at 3:30

If, for some reason, you must be absent from a match or practice you must notify your coach IN ADVANCE (24 hours).  

There are two types of absences:

Excused:  If you are absent from school due to an illness, religious holiday, funeral, serious family emergency or if you are injured.  If you are at school, you should be at practice.

Unexcused:  Any absence that coaches are not made aware of ahead of time.  Other examples include those which you can control, such as: work, homework, babysitting, test retakes, etc.

5)  Consequences for absences:

Missed practices, regardless of the type of absence, may result in you not playing in the next match. 

• The first unexcused absence will result in a one match suspension.

• The second unexcused absence will result in a two match suspension.

• The third unexcused absence will result in removal from the team.

Any additional behaviors deemed detrimental to the team by the players and/or coach could result in any of the above consequences. 

These include, but are not limited to: insubordination, disrespect, dishonesty, etc.

Teams

Varsity: Will consist of the top six golfers as determined by performance in practice and previous matches. Must meet all team rules and expectations. Must demonstrate commitment to our team, that places Two Rivers golf before other activities. 

Junior Varsity: Will consist of top six golfers, after varsity, as determined by performance in practice and previous matches. Must meet all team rules and expectations.  Must demonstrate commitment to our team, that places Two Rivers golf before other activities. 

Practice Squad: Will consist of the golfers not on varsity or junior varsity teams. Must meet all team rules and expectations. There will be at least one event/match (dependent on roster numbers) for our practice squad so it is imperative that they attend practices.
