Head Coach Greg Fehrman is one of the most recognized and respected baseball coaches in the state of Minnesota.  He has led the Warrior Baseball for over twenty years and is the chief architect in  “building a tradition of excellence” in our baseball program.  During his tenure, the Warriors have been to three state tournaments in three different decades, winning two Championships.  Additionally, his teams have finished first or second in what is now the Metro East Conference over ten times.  He has been named coach of the year multiple times, and has been a Minnesota Lions All-Star Coach.

A winner of over 300 games, Coach Fehrman is most proud of the relationships he has built with players, families, and community members over his brilliant career.  A native of Southwestern Minnesota, he was a beloved teacher at Henry Sibley High School before retiring in 2014.  Coach Fehrman lives with his wife in St. Paul, and when he is not at Warrior Park, he is kept eternally busy by his wonderful grandchildren.

Coach Comer

Kyle Comer joined the Warriors in 2021 and serves as the hitting and infield coach.  A 2016 Graduate of University of Minnesota - Duluth, Coach Comer Captained the Bulldogs to an NSIC Championship and its second-ever NCAA Division II Regional, earning All-American honors in the process.  He currently ranks first or second in the UMD record books for hits, RBI, and doubles.

Since graduating, Coach Comer has also coached with the Minnesota Mash Baseball Club.  A native of Northern Wisconsin, Coach Comer currently lives in Inver Grove Heights with his wife Emily, daughter Cora, and their two rescue dogs, Clyde & Willie.  He works in Software Technology.

Coach Frias

José Frias works primarily with the Varsity outfielders, as well as serving as the JV Head Coach.   Brought on board in 2020, Coach Frias employs a unique skill set in developing the young men in the Warrior Baseball Program.  A long time youth coach in both the West St. Paul and Mendota Heights Baseball Associations, with experience at the Legion level, Coach Frias is the consummate student of the game. He is both liked and respected by Warrior baseball players and coaches because he brings a perspective on how to be successful that has been forged through his many years as a businessman and community leader in the greater St. Paul area.  Coach Fehrman says, “I’ve been around a lot of great baseball coaches in my career.  What makes José so special is the blend of experience he has, and the confident humility he exudes, that make him the tremendous teacher of the game that he is.   He makes our program better every day he steps on the field.”

Coach Frias lives in Mendota Heights with his wife Brittany and two daughters, and his son is a Warrior Baseball Alum, Class of 2020.

Coach Karlen

Scott Karlen rejoined the Warrior Baseball Staff in 2020, and serves as our varsity pitching and catching coach.   Prior to this, Karlen completed a successful five year mission to rebuild and restructure the youth baseball program in Mendota Heights.  During his time leading the MHAA in-house and traveling programs, participation numbers soared; specifically adding over fifty new traveling spots for kids and a competitive retooling of the in-house program.  While coaching in the Association for four years, his teams earned 14 tournament championships as well as second and third place finishes in the State Tournament.  Watching these players grow as people and players from t-ball to the varsity level was an immense source of pride for Coach Karlen.

After initial high school coaching opportunities in Duluth and at Highland Park, Karlen was a member of the Apple Valley Baseball staff from 2000-2004 before becoming the Varsity Head Coach at Simley from 2005-2008.   Following the 2008 season Karlen moved to his current administrative position at Two Rivers and assisted the Varsity team through the 2012 season.

Following two major lower body injuries at the age of 18, Coach Karlen attended the University of St.Thomas, and played two seasons with the Duluth Express amatuer team making two State Tournament appearances.  Karlen resides in Mendota Heights with his wife Julie and two sons.
